Gossip Is Difficult To Undo

This is a re-post blog. One of the inspiring stories I've heard from Bro Bo's talks. Another lesson learned. =)

One day, a young woman spread gossip about an old woman living beside her house. And the old woman’s reputation was tainted forever. After a few months, the young woman had pangs of guilt for what she did.   With much courage, she knocked on the door of the old woman. When the old woman saw her, the young woman said, “I’ve done you wrong. I’ve come to ask for forgiveness. I’m sorry…”

The old woman said, “Come in.”

Sitting on the couch, she told her younger neighbor, “I forgive you. But can you do something for me? It’s a special ritual…” She stood up and entered the room and the kitchen. She came back, bringing with her a pillow and a knife. She handed them to the young woman and said, “Please go up to the roof of my house and stab this pillow and rip it.”

The young woman was perplexed. But she did what she was told to do. She went up the roof, plunged the knife into the pillow, and instantly, feathers flew far and wide, carried by the wind. When she went down, she returned the torn pillow and knife to the old woman.

The old woman said, “I have one last thing I want you to do for me. Go out now into the street and collect all the feathers…”

A tear escaped the young woman’s eye.  She knew her neighbor was trying to tell her something. “I’m so sorry, but that can’t be done,” she said. “They’ve scattered into different directions.”

The old woman nodded. “I’m not angry with you. I’m just giving you a correction in love. From now on, please only speak good words. If you have nothing good to say, don’t say it anymore. Because your words will be carried by the wind in every direction—and you won’t be able to take them back.”
And the young woman softly wept.

Friend, you can still gossip. But only gossip about the good in others. Broadcast the wonderful qualities of others to the world.

be Patient...

Love is patient, love is kind.
(1 Corinthians 13:4)

My patience was tested a few a days ago. I had waited for an important document from LBC for almost 5 days. I checked at the mails area in our dormitory and asked one of the caretakers who informed me that he didn't recieve any.

I called customer service and they informed me that they already forwarded it to the main delivery office. She gave me an option either to request the sender to change the address or they could transfer it to a branch nearest my office. But then again, I'll have to wait for another 2 days.

"You should have at least informed me about that because you already have my number", I told her in a calm voice though I was already angry.

I then went to the main delivery office only to find out that it was already delivered and recieved by the new caretaker. I called the owner of our dormitory informing him that the caretaker didn't even inform me that he already received it. The owner said that the caretaker didn't know my name and he just kept the document.

I felt guilty of judging other people. Most of all I was guilty of the words I've said to the customer service representative.

On my way to the dormitory, I decided not be angry anymore to the maintenance worker. He said sorry and I
jokingly replied that he should remember my name next time.

I prayed forgiveness for my imperfections. I thanked God for speaking to me through my experiences. And I thank Him for reminding me to be patient with other people the way He's patient with me.

What does your bad experience tell you today? =)

Morning Prayer

Lord, in the silence of this new day,
I open the door to peace.
I come to ask You for peace,
wisdom and strength.
Today, I want to look at the world
with eyes filled with love;
I want to be patient
understanding, humble, meek, and good.
To see Your children beyond
their outward appearance,
as You see them Yourself,
in order to appreciate
the kindness to each one.
close my ears to idle words,
keep my tongue from gossip,
that I may only
have thoughts of blessing.
I want to be so well-intentioned and just
that all who approach me
may feel Your presence.
Clothe me, Lord, with Your goodness,
and may I be a reflection of You
thoughout this day. Amen.

Today Is Your Day

Bro. Arun Gogna is one of my of my favorite preachers aside from Bro Bo because he's also funny. This book has blessed me. Today could be your day because God always provides enough grace for you.

Below are some of my favorite lines. Be inspired and be blessed!

With faith, we have the freedom to enjoy life. -20

People may even forget your name, but God never.-22

Everytime you enjoy life, your Father in heaven is enjoying it, too, with you. -38

Be grateful, and you will.-40

It doesn't matter who you are. God loves you unconditionally.-44

Allow God to encourage you to take risks in order to achieve bigger dreams. -48

God indeed is our Provider, but we have to reach out to Him to receive His choicest blessings. -53

Do not hide your wounds.Expose it to the One who can heal it. God the Wounded Healer understands what you feel. -57

Relationships matter more than anything in the world. -60

Let's make Jesus smile as we love His people. -70

Be clear on what you wish for. -72

The true test of leadership is action. Anybody can be a leader. But not everybody is selfless.
The core of leadership is selflessness. -76

Only by communing with the Father do I acquire the grace to do His work. -78

Truly, God is magnified in His wonderful creation. -92

She(Mama Mary)always brings us to Jesus. -98

God desires your best always. -102

God is never wrong. -106

If you do not grasp the meaning of life, just love it, and know that you are infinitely loved. And someday,I assure you, every pain you have gone through will turn into a sparkling, one -of-a-kind pearl. -110

You are not your own; you were bought at a price. -113

Always believe that He carries your burdens with you. Try God. You won't regret it. -116

Whatever you can conceive and believe, you can achieve. -120

Childlike faith is simple. It is pure. It is honest. It is innocent to evil. It simply believes. It is beautiful. -122

We need to make decisions even if it means we could fail. At least, we won't have any regrets that we didn't play the game at all. -124

Bring someone to Jesus.-126

God wants to use you in the fashion that fits the person He made you to be. Be Jesus to others. -130

If what comes out of your mouth are uplifting words, you are going to have an incredible day. -134

God protects you by calling you to live within the circle of His love. -138

Find time to love God. Find ways to love others. And find opportunities to love yourself more.

God
Only
Son
Perish
Eternal
Life
-139

Believe in His Good News and you will have eternal life. -140

A Prayer Intended For Me

Pray without ceasing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

"Can you do me a favor? Please light a candle for me.", this was once her request when I visited the church. I believe that prayers are also gifts, so I prayed for her. While watching the white candle melting in front of me, I felt peace deep within. At that moment, I was also comforted knowing God answers her requests in His own perfect time.

Only a few months have passed and I read one of her blog entries. There then she revealed a secret. It's a secret about her request of lightning a candle for her.

In her blog she wrote, "My secret way to get through is to ask. I often ask favor. I often ask someone to visit a church and light a candle for me as my alibi. Then out of pity for me, or let's just say subtle emotional manipulation (haha), I would receive an affirming answer. It's then I would start my secret job (which is not a secret anymore) to utter my prayers, hoping that the light emanating from the candle will aid the hand that eagerly lit it. That in every melting wax comes with it the melting of the pain they bear."

I would like to thank that person who prayed for me. Thank you for being my prayer partner. Thank you for constantly praying for me. One day, when you visit a new church, I'd like to ask the same favor. Please light a candle for me too.

May this blog bless all the readers. Don't forget to bless others by praying for them. Remember, miracles happen in prayers. And prayers are also gifts. Send it now.
