Preparing for Lent

I attended my first core meeting yesterday at the PICC with the other leaders of the LOJ community. One of the topics discussed was about Lent. I was able to write some important points about the topic. May the following questions and reflections also guide you in preparation for the coming Lenten season. Keep walking with Jesus! =)

What have I done for Christ?
What am I doing for Christ?
What should I do for Christ?

LENT - growth, hope, life, consolation
- an invitation to walk with Jesus

-What places in my heart need resurrection?
-We look at Jesus, the One who pursues us, as He lives, as He dies.
-We look at His friendships, choices, priorities, preoccupations & His actions.

-How does He look at people? Who are His friends?

-To be in the presence of Jesus is enough.

-We know who we are by looking at Him.

3 Things about LENT
1. Prayer -  When was the last time that you truly  listened to Him?
- lenten season allows us to listen to Him once again

2. Penance - fasting and abstinence
-sacrifice and surrender
-sharing your bread with the hungry
-getting rid of preoccupations, hatred and hurting

To fast is to feast.
-fast from words, criticism, noise, self-seeking attitude.

3. Charity - doing good works
-thinking less of yourself and more of God.

P.S Please share this blog so we could bless more people. Thank you!  Be super-blessed!

Discover your Passion

I happened to read an article entitled How to Quit Your Job in 10 Days by Hanz Florentino. I also read his other articles and it really blessed me. He's a creative entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. His goal is to touch 10,000 lives before he reach 30. His mentor is also Bo Sanchez(also my mentor).

One of his top articles is entitled "Discover Your Passion". Here are the questions that we need to ask in order for us to discover our passion.

1. What if there are no limitations and I can do anything I want – what are the 7 things I would do with my life now?
- It can be an activity, it can be a person you’d want to talk to, or somewhere you’d love to go.

2. What are the 3 things I love to do during those days?
- Our childhood dreams are one of best indicators to how we want our whole life to be.

3. Ask Your Friend Technique - "Friend, please be honest with me, what are the things that you can see in me that I am really good at?"
- Approach or ask a friend, not just a friend but someone who knows you personally – well!

4. What are the top 3 skills you are good at?
- What are the things that every time mentioned, people will turn to you. And you would say, “That’s me!”

5. How long does it really take? - 10,000 HOURS!
- It simply takes 10,000 hours for one core gift to be at its peak!

6. After all your success in life, what is the greatest advice you can give to the younger version of you?
- Tell that person every great piece of wisdom you’ve got.

7. If you today is your last day on Earth, what will you do?
 - Your last answer is your passion.

she kept on walking...

"Lord Jesus, You walked on this earth. You know that we can get tired and our feet can hurt. You know about mountains, both literal and metaphorical. You know how the enemy tries to interfere my walk of faith. And You know that, despite such challenges, I want to keep walking with You. Thank You for my gift of faith - and thank You that its mustard-seed size won't keep You from handling the mountains in my life."- Thomas Nelson

This morning, I wasn't able to attend a project presentation with our client. I left my company's ID and my officemate was late in responding to my text message. He replied 15 minutes after the scheduled time, so I was already late for the meeting. Since I was only to observe in the meeting, I decided to go back to the office to finish my other tasks.

On my way to the office, I was still feeling disappointed at what had happened. While waiting for a jeepney,I saw an old woman few steps away from me pulling her wheelchair alone. I was about to assist her when she moved twice faster than I walked. I was relieved when I saw her safe on the side of road.

Like a sudden brake of a rushing jeepney, another lesson hit me. There I was caught in a traffic reflecting on another lesson God taught me. Through the old woman, God conversed with me. He told me to be like the old woman whenever I fail. She never gave up in spite of life's difficulties. And she kept on walking even just by pulling the wheelchair with her hands.

Thank You Lord for another inspiring day and may You guide the old woman in her journey.
